Flip Flop

January 11, 2017

"A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways", James 1:18

The phrase double-minded here is translated from the Greek word dipsuchos meaning, literally, two-spirited!  Strong's Concordance further defines this condition as "vacillating in opinion or purpose".  In more modern language, it's "flip-flopping" or being "wishy-washy".

Life is full of choices.  Some are easy, and some just aren't.  We all struggle with the constant conflict between doing what God wants us to do, and what we want.

We know from the Word that it's just not possible for us to be ruled by our own desires and still serve God. In order for us to have the relationship with Him that both He and we desire, we've got to be fully committed.  We've got to go "all in".  The only other option is "all out", with no in-between.  We can never succeed at anything with only a partial commitment, especially our relationships with God and our spouse.

So then, today's challenge is:  make the commitment!  Choose to serve God completely.  Choose to completely love and cherish our spouse.  With laser-like focus on these two areas of relationship, everything else will fall into place.
