Slow to Speak

Why do you get upset? Is it because of social injustices against others, unfair treatment in work situations, or do you feel you are the only one who really gets it? That was me for years and I still struggle with that "stinkin' thinkin'". The truth is, I am not the only one who gets it, and it’s not my job to judge or right the world. What it boiled down to for me was a matter of me not getting my own way or someone having an opinion different from mine. Today I want to challenge you to use God’s advice out of James 1:19 where it says, “Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak and slow to wrath.” Just follow that simple formula of stopping and listening before speaking. When you do speak, try to add value to other people. Avoid anger for foolish reasons. Now shouldn’t this all start right in your home with your very own spouse? Have a blessed week.
